How to Play Super Bowl Bingo at Your Party

Build a 36-square pool, print a card per guest and pick a call style.

Super Bowl bingo is a card game played with printed cards. Each guest gets a card with 25 squares: 24 words plus an optional free center. The words are plays and commercial moments you choose before the broadcast starts.

The bingo generator makes the cards for free, with no sign-up.

How to Play Super Bowl Bingo

To play Super Bowl bingo, put a pool of 30 to 40 squares into the bingo generator’s custom list, print one card per guest, and call or watch for squares. The first player to complete the winning pattern takes the prize.

  1. Write the pool. Start with the 36-square list in the next section, or write your own. The custom list needs at least 24 entries, and our guidance is 30 to 40, because a pool of exactly 24 gives every card the same words.
  2. Paste the pool into the custom list at the bingo card generator. The generator builds a separate shuffled card for each guest, with up to 60 cards per batch.
  3. Generate cards for your guest count plus spares, then print. The generator prints one card per page with a call sheet, so the page count equals the card count.
  4. Choose a play style. Caller style has the host read squares aloud. Watch style has guests mark squares from the screen. Both are covered below.
  5. Pick the winning pattern and the prize for each one. Settle the tie rule before kickoff.
  6. Play until a player completes the pattern. The player names the squares on their card, and the room checks each one before anyone wins.

Steps 1 and 2 happen on a computer. Steps 3 to 6 happen in the room.

The 36-Square Super Bowl Bingo Pool

Paste these 36 lines into the custom list. Each square is our own suggestion, not a description of any particular broadcast. A square may never come up in your game.```text Kickoff Coin toss Touchdown Field goal Fumble Interception Penalty flag Coach’s challenge Timeout Two-minute warning Halftime show Commercial break Animal in an ad Celebrity cameo Car ad Snack ad Movie trailer National anthem Sack Punt Instant replay Onside kick Safety Overtime Trophy presentation Confetti Fourth down Huddle Mascot Referee huddle Announcer says “unbelievable” Fan in face paint Missed kick Two-point try Challenge flag Sideline reporter

Some squares overlap in meaning. Coach's challenge and Challenge flag describe similar moments, and so do Huddle and Referee huddle. Decide before kickoff whether both squares count, or remove one from the pool. If a square never comes up during the game, the round carries on, and you can swap that square out before the next game.

## Caller Style or Watch Style

Choose the play style before you print, because the style decides how the host uses the pool.

### Caller Style

In caller style, the host calls each square by name as it happens, the way a standard bingo caller does. Guests mark a square when they hear it. The host watches the broadcast and calls only the squares that happen on screen. When a guest completes the pattern, they call bingo, and the host checks the squares they named against the calls made.

### Watch Style

In watch style, the host does not draw or call anything. Guests watch the screen and mark each square they see on their own card. The first guest to call bingo shows their card, and the room checks the marked squares against what they saw. Set one house rule before kickoff: a square counts only when the player can name the moment in the broadcast and another guest agrees.

### Which Style Suits a Loud Room

Pick caller style for a loud room. One voice carries the calls across the room, so guests do not need to watch the screen to keep up. Watch style works better in a quiet room where everyone can see the screen. In a loud room, a guest who looks away for a moment misses the square, and nobody calls it for them.

## Winning Patterns and How Long Each Round Runs

The generator supports five winning patterns. The table lists each one with the squares it needs and the call counts we have estimated.

| Pattern | Squares to mark | Round length (our estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Single Line | One complete line of squares | Often ends after roughly 12 to 15 calls on a 36-word pool |
| Four Corners | The four corner squares | Shorter than a blackout (our estimate) |
| Postage Stamp | A 2 by 2 block in a corner | Shorter than a blackout (our estimate) |
| Outer Frame | The 16 border squares | Shorter than a blackout (our estimate) |
| Blackout | All 25 squares | Can run as long as all 36 calls |

Run the patterns in order, from single line to blackout, and give a prize at each step. A single line round can end well before a blackout, so guests who miss the first prize can still win a later one. If you run only one pattern, choose single line for a short game. A blackout round can run as long as all 36 calls, so it suits a room that can stay in the game for a long stretch.

## Prizes That Cost Nothing

Keep prizes to points, bragging rights and small snacks. These three prizes need no money:

- First pick of the snack table, for the single line round.
- A trophy mug, for the blackout round.
- Choosing the next song on the playlist, for a middle pattern.

Do not tie any prize to money on a square or a round. This site does not give legal advice, and it does not describe or encourage wagering on games.

## Settle Ties and Disputes Before Kickoff

Decide the tie rule before the first call, while nobody has a stake in the outcome. If two players complete the same pattern on the same call, you can split the prize, or have each player name their squares again in order. Pick one rule and say it aloud before the game starts.

Disputes over a square need a named decider. In caller style, the host decides. In watch style, the room decides by majority of the guests who saw the moment. Say that rule before kickoff too, so the decision does not fall on one guest.

## Printing and Card Batch Arithmetic

The generator makes up to 60 cards per batch. Add three spares to your guest count, then compare the total to 60. Spares cover a late arrival or a card that gets marked by mistake.

- 30 guests plus 3 spares is 33 cards, one batch.
- 70 guests plus 3 spares is 73 cards, two batches, because one batch holds 60 cards at most.

Each card prints on its own page, so 33 cards means 33 pages. Keep the pool file on your computer. If the guest count changes, you can regenerate the cards with the same squares.

## Supplies and Setup Cost

The bingo card generator costs nothing to use, and it needs no sign-up. Printing happens on your own printer. The supplies below cover the rest of the table.

PartyGameKit earns a commission from Amazon purchases made through the links on this page. [Bingo daubers](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=bingo+daubers&tag=gamekit-20) mark squares on a printed card. [Pens in bulk](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=pens+bulk&tag=gamekit-20) cover writing the winners' names. For caller style, if you prefer a physical draw, write each square on an [index card](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=index+cards&tag=gamekit-20) and shuffle the stack before the game.

## Tips for Non-Fans

Tell non-fans which squares are commercials before the first call. The six ad-style squares in our list are Commercial break, Animal in an ad, Celebrity cameo, Car ad, Snack ad and Movie trailer. In caller style, the host can say "commercial" before reading one of them, so a non-fan knows what to listen for.

A non-fan who wants a simpler game can play with a commercial-only card (see the next section). The caller reads every square on that card as an ad, so the non-fan does not need to know the game to play.

## A Commercial-Only Variant

A commercial-only game uses only ad-style squares. Our list has six, and each card needs 24 squares from the pool, so the variant needs more entries from you. Six from our list plus 18 of your own reaches the minimum of 24. Six plus 24 of your own reaches 30, the low end of our suggested pool size.

Write the new squares in the same style as the list: short, one moment each, and nothing that depends on a particular team appearing. Run the variant in caller style or watch style. In watch style, guests mark an ad square only when they see one on screen.

## A Team-Loyalty Variant

A team-loyalty game adds squares about the teams on screen, so guests who root for one side have squares to follow. Give each side's squares a neutral label, such as "Side A" or "Side B", and leave team names off the shared pool. That way the pool still works if the matchup changes.

Keep several neutral squares from the main list on every card. A card with only one side's squares can go a long time without a match, so the neutral squares keep the game moving for every guest.

## Hosting Problems and How to Fix Them

- A guest asks what a square means. Answer from the list you wrote, and rewrite any square that needs an explanation before the next game.
- Two players call bingo on the same call. Use the tie rule you set before kickoff.
- A square never appears in the broadcast. Leave it unmarked, and swap it out before the next round.
- A guest arrives late with no card. Give them a spare, which is why the card count includes three extra cards.

## Who This Is Not For and What Would Change Our Answer

Super Bowl bingo is a poor fit for a room that needs a fixed-length game or a prize for every guest. A single line round can end after roughly 12 to 15 calls, while a blackout can run to all 36 calls, so the length depends on the pattern and the calls. If the room needs a different format, see our [minute to win it games](/party-games/minute-to-win-it-games/) page. Watch style is a poor fit for a room where the screen is hard to see.

Two limits in the generator would change our answer. A guest list above 60 needs a second batch, as the arithmetic above shows. The custom list needs at least 24 entries, so a pool below 24 cannot be used. A pool of exactly 24 gives every card the same words.

Common questions

Are there free printable Super Bowl bingo cards?

Yes. The PartyGameKit bingo card generator makes printable cards for free, with no sign-up. It builds a separate shuffled card for each guest and prints one card per page with a call sheet. The generator has no built-in Super Bowl theme, so you add your squares through its custom word list.

What prizes work for Super Bowl bingo?

Prizes that cost no money include first pick of the snack table, a trophy mug and choosing the next song. Keep every prize to points, bragging rights or small snacks.

How many squares should a Super Bowl bingo pool have?

Use 30 to 40 squares. The generator's custom list needs at least 24 entries, but a pool of exactly 24 gives every card the same words. The suggested pool on this page has 36 squares, and each card draws 24 of them plus the optional free center.

Can non-fans play Super Bowl bingo?

Yes. Non-fans can play caller style, where the host reads each square aloud, or get a commercial-only card. Our list has some ad-style squares, so a commercial-only card needs more squares that you write yourself. Say which squares are commercials before the first call.

Is there a funny version of Super Bowl bingo?

Yes, and you build it yourself. The generator accepts any custom word list of at least 24 entries, so a funny pool is one you write with the same 30 to 40 entry guidance. Test the squares on a few friends before printing so nobody has to guess what a square means.
